For almost 65 years this well-established Hotel features air-conditioned Hotel rooms and suites: a fully licensed dining room and a fully licensed lounge. The adjacent building has eight motel rooms. Hotel Harbour Grace was formerly Archibald Hotel.

Immaculate Conception Cathedral
Construction on the cathedral was finished and consecrated in 1892. The Immaculate Conception Cathedral served parishioners for well over 100 years. The church has recently been purchased by the Yellowbelly Brewery of St. John’s, Newfoundland and should definitely be a place to see. Only minutes from the Hotel.
Oldest Registered Gravesite
Harbour Grace has one of the oldest archived gravesites in North America as seen here by this tomb. There has been a lot of debate over the tomb being a Pirate or Priest? Lots of clues there to back both theories. This grave site is also only a few minutes’ walk from the Hotel.
Museum
The Conception Bay Museum in Harbour Grace is an amazing experience. Once the customs house and before that known to be a stronghold for the Pirate Peter Easton, it is now home to artifacts, logs, and history of Harbour Grace. This Museum is a real gem!

Amelia Earhart Memorial
Amelia Earhart was the most famous woman pilot to fly solo across the Atlantic. A statue of the aviatress was placed in the Spirit of Harbour Grace Park. Site design came from Lorne Rostotski, the inspiration and funding from Roger Pike. The statue stands as a permanent reminder of Earhart’s special history in Harbour Grace.

Salmon Cove Sands
Popular for its grey sandy beach with fresh water as well as salt water, Salmon Cove Sands is a summer paradise. Early morning yoga, family fun days, or evening strolls at sunset, the sands has something for everyone. The beach is even pet friendly. There are also boardwalks and picnic areas, change rooms and outhouses. There is also seasonal concessions and a gift shop. Salmon cove sands is a summer must!
Freshwater
The small fishing village of Freshwater, Carbonear is adorned with picturesque scenery, breathtaking ocean views, and is a reminder that you can slow down and enjoy the small things. Go for a swim in Freshwater pond, hike or go for a stroll along the narrow roads, even berry picking in season, all wonderful ways to spend the day.
Harbour Grace Harbour
Steeped in a history that is full of Pirates, wars and fishing vessel’s, Harbour Grace Harbour is one of the oldest ports in North America. Walk along the trails and beaches for scenic views, visit historic museums and landmarks, or visit the Admiral’s Marina located on the south side. Travel along the historic district where centuries old homes and buildings merge with modern boats and fishing vessels continuing to keep the traditions alive.
The Kyle
Built 1922 / 1913 for the Reid Company of Newfoundland. The Kyle was one of the most famous vessels in the coastal fleet and for more then 50 years carried fisherman and scores of other passengers to “ The Labrador”. Medical services were available to the residents of the many isolated coves and settlements, from a doctor who sailed the ship during her Labrador service. She has served as a freighter, a floater ( a term used to describe the ship and fisherman who lived on board and fished on the coast of Labrador from spring until fall) and a sealing vessel. It was this service that she fished her sea going days, The SS Kyle was brought to its resting grounds February 4, 1967 by a major storm with heavy Northeast winds breaking her away from her mooring blowing her to where she sits to this day in Harbour Grace Harbour. The Kyle was 220 feet long, 32 feet wide and 21 feet deep. Two Coal fired marine boilers provided steam for her triple expansion engine which generated 1580 horsepower.
